Overview
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Taiwan Lantern Festival was suspended and transformed into the "2021 Light Coming". The Hsinchu City Government used light projections, music performances, and art exhibitions to transform the historic sites in the main streets of Hsinchu into outdoor art installations. They invited 65 groups of artists from seven countries to exhibit urban lantern displays, turning the entire 1-square-kilometre old city area into exhibition zones. Nine major historic sites were transformed into dazzling light sculptures, making it the largest-scale light projection exhibition and an internationally renowned event in Taiwan.

My Role
Project Manager
I was the project manager for five light projections for the 2021 Light Coming. As the project manager, I collaborated with 15 animation teams, music creators, and lighting designers to create projection animations for five historic buildings: Image Museum of Hsinchu City, Hsinchu City Art Gallery, Hsinchu City Hall, The First Credit Cooperative of Hsinchu, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. These animations showcased the stories behind these buildings.
In addition to the animation production, I also worked with the projection hardware vendor to find suitable projector locations, assist with power supply, plan the audio and lighting setup, oversee the on-site operations, and handle traffic control permits for the team's setup and dismantling.
Apart from collaborating with the team, I was responsible for communicating with clients to understand their needs and ensure that the project deliverables met their expectations.
In short, my role involved coordinating and communicating with clients, creative teams, and hardware vendors, ensuring that all teams understood the project objectives and completed their tasks within the given timeframe. I also managed the project budget to successfully meet the client's requirements.
